« : 08.06.2021 18:25:17 »
Hello i have a little problem , brightness on laptop not work,

according to the following I tried to create an archive in the file /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ with this name 20-intel.conf and in the file I wrote this
Section "Device"
        Identifier  "card1"
        Driver      "intel"
        Option      "Backlight"  "intel_backlight"
        BusID       "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
but not working , what am I doing wrong ? how should I write it???
find /sys -type f -name brightness
/sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio0/input/input0/input0::scrolllock/brightness
/sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio0/input/input0/input0::capslock/brightness
/sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio0/input/input0/input0::numlock/brightness
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/hdaudioC0D0/leds/hda::mute/brightness
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/backlight/acpi_video1/brightness
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/drm/card1/card1-LVDS-1/intel_backlight/brightness

ls /sys/class/backlight/
acpi_video0  acpi_video1  intel_backlight

thanks

hello again
I noticed something I think is not right, and may be the reason why the brightness does not work, with this command  in terminal he show me three cards

ls /sys/class/backlight/
acpi_video0  acpi_video1  intel_backlight

but
with this  command it shows me I have two graphic cards
grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Whistler [Radeon HD 6730M/6770M/7690M XT]

if you look at the following images,you will see that the graphics card is read incorrectly by acpi.....
probably here is the cause ,where the brightness does not work....
Can we fix that ???

I did not notice anything strange, except for errors that occur in almost any log...

finally fixed, I don't know why what system is showing me the card in the wrong position
...
at first I wrote the file like this
code]Section "Device"
        Identifier  "card1"
        Driver      "intel"
        Option      "Backlight"  "intel_backlight"
        BusID       "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
because that's how he showed it to me in the terminal  :-o
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/drm/card1/card1-LVDS-1/intel_backlight/brightness[/code]
and lightdm not start , login not running ....
now I wrote it like this
Section "Device"
        Identifier  "card0"
        Driver      "intel"
        Option      "Backlight"  "intel_backlight"
        BusID       "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
and everything looks good  :-o

one more thing why can't I use the amd card for brightness ????

This can be hung on the keys Win + 1, Win + 2, Win + 3, ..., Win + 0 (screenshot): Super + 1, this is the Win key and the 1 key.

Start
Keyboard=>Application Shortcuts
$ LC_ALL=C xfce4-keyboard-settings

Bind commands to hotkeys Win + 1, Win + 2, Win + 3, ..., Win + 0.
(see screenshot)

Neither the radeon driver nor the modesetting driver has a Backlight option:
$ man intel | grep -i backlight
       Option "Backlight" "string"
              Override  the  probed backlight control interface. Sometimes the
              automatically selected backlight interface may not correspond to
              the entry under /sys/class/backlight to use.
       BACKLIGHT - current backlight level (adjustable)
              By  adjusting the BACKLIGHT property, the brightness on the LVDS
              microcontroller to control the backlight).
$ man radeon | grep -i backlight | wc -l
0
$ man modesetting | grep -i backlight | wc -l
0

find /sys -type f -name brightness
...
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/drm/card1/card1-LVDS-1/intel_backlight/brightness
Section "Device"
        Identifier  "card0"

        Option      "Backlight"  "intel_backlight"
        BusID       "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
and everything looks good  :-o

With this Intel graphics setting, commands will work that add and decrease brightness by 10 percent and which can be hung on hot keys, for example Win + 1 Win + 2:
xbacklight +10
xbacklight -10

Hot keys:
Settings=>Keyboard=>Application Shortcuts

Excellent Δημητριος.
You helped to find the bug with this topic:
xbacklight failure on Intel graphics
$ xbacklight -10
No outputs have backlight property

It remains to decide what to hang it on, on xbacklight or on the X-server.

Отлично Δημητριος.
Этой темой вы помогли найти bug:
Отказ xbacklight на графике Intel
$ xbacklight -10
No outputs have backlight property

Осталось решить на что его вешать, на xbacklight или на X-сервер.

Direct brightness control does not work
Не работает прямое управление яркостью
# lspci -nn | grep VGA | cut -f1 -d ' '; setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=FF

Я рад, что хоть в чем-то помог.

I'm glad I helped with something even a little bit.
