Собственно вопрос именно в том, что веб-камера у меня работала именно при использовании v4l2 (стояла мандрива)... Если можно про репозиторий поподробнее.

Про репозитории понятно. Хотя раньше там и искал... Сегодня нашел. Установил kernel-feat-drivers-media-v4l2. Однако ekiga (в мандриве именно ею тестировал камеру) все одно не видит камеру и не дает возможности выбора v4l2 (выдает модули видео: picture и v4l) :(

Перезапуск Х-ов, полный рестарт системы, а также кнопка Поиск устройств в ekiga тоже ничего не приносит.

Установил также uvcview. Не работает...

От досады установил ВСЕ что нашел синаптик по v4l2. Камера так и не заработала.

Поискал со словом camer
Нашел kernel-modules-gspca-*, причем предустановлен kernel-modules-gspca-std-smp#1.00.12-alt2.132626.12.M40.1 Может имеет смысл установить еще какой-нибудь? Вот только какой из 12?

kernel-feat-drivers-media-v4l2. - это не то, это вспомогательный пакет для построения ядерного модуля.
Попробуйте обновить ядро (и желательно весь дистрибутив) до Branch 4.1 - там есть отдельный пакет kernel-modulу-v4l

К сожалению этот метод не очень подходит... Учитывая "высочайшую" (в 128 килобит/с в максимуме) скорость школьного выхода в Инет, данное действие будет продолжаться несколько дней (оставлять на работе включенным компьютер один на один мне религия не позволяет :)). Мне будет проще и быстрее скачать 5.0 (если он когда-нибудь выйдет) дома, чем в школе обновиться. А таскать компы домой из школы не получится...

Может есть более комфортное решение?
