Поставил Альт линукс на этот ноут. В принципе почти всё устраивает(ещё бы интернет через ЮСБ модем настроить) но не радует что Линукс не подружился с тачпадом. Тоесть при любом прикосновении к последнему курсор появляется в произвольном месте экрана и выполняет произвольное действие. Ещё хотелось бы сделать комбинации горячих клавиш (думаю это не так уж и сложно так что просто подскажите где можно почитать про такие вещи). Ну и режим сбережения энергии... :) Заранее спасибо.

Примите в качестве хорошего совета: поставьте свежую бету 5-ку.. есть большое подозрение, что бóльшая часть проблем пройдёт. Оставшиеся можно будет лечить в том числе и пинанием разработчиков через багзиллу.

ASUS K40AB+альт 5 бета. Всё вроде нормально встало,разрешение экрана правильное, но в 3D игрухе , где пингвин с горки едет :) получаем 2-3 fps , похоже с 3d ускорением какие то траблы :( Видео радеон 4570 . С чего начать лечение? (к сожалению, у ноута НЕТ выхода в инет,поэтому всю инфу (пакеты с дровами и т.д.) буду подливать с флэшки)

лечение начинать именно с радеона.. так уж повелось, но с дровами под АТИ очень плохо.

Попробовать сменить драйвер на radeon или fglrx (в центре управления системой).

почитав форум, уже игрался, но проверку ни один не проходит, ни радеонхд, ни fglrx :( правильное разрешение ставит только  тот драйвер,что стаёт при установке системы (радеон без хд).подскажите, где какие логи глянуть)) может кто то такой ноут уже юзает? я закоренелый виндузятник, уже больше 10 лет на винде, тяжело перестраиваться :)
Вчера поставил свежую мандриву,эффект тот же....проблема явно в драйвере)) где и как линуксоиды берут дрова? :D

Смените драйвер на fglrx, перезагрузите компьютер и лог покажите: /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

при применении драйвера fglrx экран стал белым, после перезагрузки взял лог
